Local rockers I Was Totally Destroying are preparing to release the follow-up to their 2009 album Horror Vacui (check out our review of that album HERE). The new set of tunes is titled Preludes, and will be out on April 12 via Greyday Records.

The band released a short video about the making of the album, featuring interviews and studio clips as well as some snippets of the new songs. Check it out below.

I Was Totally Destroying it will celebrate vocalist and keyboard player Rachel Hirsch's 21st birthday with a show at Motorco Music Hall in Durham on Saturday, February 12 with Free Electric State, The Sammies and Wesley Wolfe. Tickets are just $5 at the door.

The band will also play an acoustic show at Deep South the Bar in Raleigh on Thursday, February 17 with J Kutchma (of Red Collar) and Jack the Radio. Tickets are $5 at the door for this one too.

In March, they'll head down to play amongst the hordes of bands at the annual South By Southwest music conference in Austin, TX and they'll spend the spring on tour. Check out the dates below.
