Arcade Fire to play Charlottesville, Bowerbirds open

Even with the band's label, Merge Records, being based in Durham, the Triangle can't seem to get the Arcade Fire for a show. The band were last here for a short daytime show in Carrboro in 2008 in support of presidential candidate Barack Obama.

The band have announced their closest show to date, but it's still about a four-hour drive. They'll play the nTelos Wireless Pavilion in Charlottesville, VA on Wednesday, June 8. Raleigh band Bowerbirds will open the show. Tickets are on sale now for $40 HERE.

Arcade Fire will re-release The Suburbs as a deluxe edition on August 2, which will include an extended version of "Wasted Hours" and two unreleased tracks, "Culture War" and "Speaking in Tongues," the latter featuring David Byrne. The release will also include a DVD featuring the 30-minute Spike Jonze film Scenes From the Suburbs, a behind the scenes documentary and the music video for "The Suburbs."
