Schoolkids planning for big Record Store Day

With the third annual Record Store Day coming up this weekend on Saturday, April 17, Schoolkids Records on Hillsborough Street in Raleigh are going to have some big events going on. Besides the cool exclusives that will be available at the store, there will be a trio of heavy acts stopping by.

First, Sick Puppies will stop by the store for an acoustic performance and meet-and-greet at noon. They are releasing a Record Store Day exclusive CD titled Live & Unplugged.

Next, Between the Buried and Me will stop by to sign records and hang out for a pizza party at 2:30 p.m. before their show opening for Mastodon later that night at Lincoln Theatre. The show is sold out.

Speaking of Mastodon, they'll drop by the store at 4 p.m. for a meet-and-greet and to celebrate the Record Store Day exclusive release of the vinyl version of their 2006 album Blood Mountain.

And last but not least, Charlotte band Paper Tongues will stop by at 6 p.m. for an acoustic in-store performance.

So it's a bit of an odd bunch for Schoolkids Records, but even if you're not a fan of the bands, head out a check out some great exclusive releases and support the store.
