Record Store Day is drawing closer, and like previous years, the exclusive releases for independent record stores have ramped up. It will all roll out on Saturday, April 17 and you'll be able to find all sorts of exclusive goodies at Schoolkids Records and Edward McKay Used Books and MOre in Raleigh, Offbeat Music in Durham and CD Alley in Chapel Hill.
This year's lists includes a split 7" vinyl from Merge Records featuring new songs, "I'm So Lazy" from U.K. band Let's Wrestle and "Brittany's Back" from the Triangle's own The Love Language. "Brittany's Back" has made regular appearances in Love Language sets for the past year or so.
Merge is also releasing a new 7" from Telekinesis featuring the songs "Dirty Thing," "Non-Toxic" and "The Drawback." The stores will also have the vinyl re-issue of The Magnetic Fields 69 Love Songs three days prior to it's official release and autographed copies of Superchunk's "Misfits & Mistakes" 7".
The Mountain Goats will be releasing a exclusive live DVD titled Life of the World To Come featuring a 50-minute live film and a 45-minute interview.
