Aerosmith, ZZ Top announce tour, Raleigh date

Aging rockers Aerosmith and ZZ Top have announced a lengthy three-month North American tour. The summer trek will kick off in St. Louis on June 10 and will wrap up on September 16 in Detroit. The venues for many of the dates were left off of the schedule including the venue for a Raleigh date on July 7. The venue is almost certainly the Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion at Walnut Creek. Ticket info for the show is not available yet.

The tour is sponsored by the Guitar Hero: Aerosmith game which is incredibly fun. Aerosmith's riff-heavy music is a perfect match for the game. I recommend playing "Last Child."

Aerosmith recently put the recording of their new album on hold due to guitarist Joe Perry requiring knee surgery and Steven Tyler coming down with pneumonia. The health of the band may be deteriorating, but I'm sure they'll still put on a flashy, energetic show.

[UPDATE: The Time Warner Cable Pavilion at Walnut Creek is confirmed for the July 7 show. Tickets for the show will go on sale May 1 at 10 am. Also updated more dates with venues below.

VH1 Classic is reporting that Joe Perry says that Aerosmith is considering playing their 1975 album Toys in the Attic in it's entirety on the upcoming tour. We'll have to wait and see if that actually happens.]
