The Avett Brothers announced via their website and their MySpace blog over the weekend that they have left their long-time record label, Ramseur Records based out of Concord. The band recently began working on a new album with uber-producer Rick Rubin and have subsequently signed with his label, American Recordings, a division of Columbia Records.
Ramseur will remain the Avett Brothers management and the band made clear in their statement to fans that " The Avett and Ramseur camps remain strongly and truthfully connected, both personally and professionally."

The Avetts still have a lot ahead of them this summer including releasing the Second Gleam on July 22 and their big show at Booth Amphitheatre in Cary on July 26. There are still tickets available for that show.
I don't know about you, but I can't wait to hear what comes out of this collaboration between the Avetts and Rick Rubin. What do you think?
