There is sad news from The Avett Brothers camp. Bassist Bob Crawford announced in a posting on the band's website that he will be taking an indefinite leave from the band to care for his young daughter Hallie.
Hallie was found having a seizure in her crib and after an MRI, it was discovered that she had a brain tumor a quarter of the size of her brain. Doctors were able to remove 90% of the tumor, but had to be placed in a temporary coma and undergo a second surgery.
Crawford and his wife will be caring for their daughter during this difficult time as she continues to struggle with her health issues. Crawford did say in his posting though, "Someday I will return to the stage with my brothers. When that will be I can not say. We are truly living one day at a time."
We wish Crawford and his family all the best as they struggle with this dreadful situation.
The Avett Brothers have not announced who will fill Crawford's shoes while he's on leave, but the band are scheduled to play a sold out show at the White Oak Amphitheatre in Greensboro on Saturday, October 8.
