Foo Fighters extend fall tour, heading to Charlotte

The monstrous  rock band Foo Fighters released their seventh album Wasting Light in April and have been crisscrossing the globe since its release playing arenas, festivals and even some fans' garages. They've extended their U.S. tour this fall and will be coming to North Carolina.

They'll be playing the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte on Tuesday, November 8. Social Distortion and The Joy Formidable will open the show. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 15 via Ticketmaster and Livenation for $31.50 to $51.50.

The show will be the Foos first in North Carolina since 2007. The band haven't played the Triangle since 2000 when they hit Walnut Creek Amphitheater with Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Check out the band's latest music video for the song "Walk" below. Keeping with the band's longstanding tradition, it's quite silly.

Figures that another local venue in the Triangle would drop the ball and fail to get the Foos. This is the third time in the row they've skipped us in favor of Charlotte. There has to be a reason why Raleigh is not getting the big modern rock shows like Charlotte is, especially since the Triangle is almost as large and has just as many venues (maybe it's the uncertainty of the NBA season? after all, the RBC/PNC Center has a number of dates taken for the NHL season).

Modern? I had no idea the Foo Fighters were still together, let alone touring. Aren't they so 2001?

This may not be a convincing argument for their relevance (there are plenty of Billboard #1 albums I couldn't care less about), but Wasting Light did debut at #1 on the charts and they sold out Wembley Stadium as recently as summer 2008.
