The free Downtown Live concert series each summer in Moore Square Park in Raleigh died in 2010 as the new amphitheater opened. A replacement series has been talked about since then, but is now finally on the books.
The series is called Bud Light Cityfest Live, and while the shows won't be free, tickets will only be $5. There will be five shows in total this year at the Downtown Raleigh Amphitheater. Two shows have been announced so far and they are quite similar to the old Downtown Live lineup.
Ed Kowalczyk, the former lead singer of Live, will perform on Saturday, August 27, and Rusted Root will perform on Saturday, October 1. Presumably there will be opening acts too, which haven't been announced yet. We'll keep you posted as the details of the series fill out.
