New Superchunk album gets release date, cover art, teaser video, more

Set your countdown clocks now, because the first new full-length Superchunk album in nine years, dubbed Majestry Shredding, now has a release date. The album will be out on September 14, almost exactly nine years since the September 18, 2001 release of Here's To Shutting up.

We not only have a date, but the album art was released today too (that's it there to the right). Check out the full track list below, which features two familiar tunes. "Crossed Wires," released as a 7" single in 2009 and "Learned to Surf," released on the Leaves In the Gutter EP, also released in 2009.

But wait, there's more. Check out a short teaser video below which features studio footage as well as bits of "Digging For Something" and "My Gap Feels Weird."

And to top everything off, the band will make their first television performance since 1994 when they appeared on Late Night with Conan O'Brien to promote Foolish (we posted this performance a few months ago which you can check out here). The band will appear on the same show, now hosted by Jimmy Fallon, on September 20, so mark your calendars now (so you can set your DVR later).

That's a lot to get excited about. Hopefully we'll have a track from the album to share with you soon and as well as news of a local album release show. Check out the band's current tour schedule below.
