Megafaun is set to play a three-night stand in Durham this September, featuring Justin Vernon of Bon Iver and special guest Sharon Van Etten.
The shows, produced by Duke Performances, will be billed as "Sounds of the South" and will take place at the Hayti Heritage Center (at 804 Old Fayetteville St) on September 17, 18 and 19, which holds 350 to 400 people. Check out a photo of the room here and see why these shows will possibly have an extra dose of awesome. Tickets will go on sale on July 30.
The shows will feature Megafaun, Vernon, Van Etten, Matt White on guitar, and a six-piece horn section. Megafaun will draw material for this project from Alan Lomax's 4-disc "Sounds of the South" collection - a series of essential Southern field recordings.
In addition to the performances, members of Megafaun, and possibly Vernon, will participate in several public conversations in Durham and at Duke during the week of September 13.
