The long-awaited ninth full-lenth Superchunk album, their first since 2001's Here's To Shutting Up, now has a name. Stereogum reports that the new album is called Majesty Shredding. There's still not a release date yet, but with the album nearing completion, I'd guess we'll be hearing the album sometime this fall.
Stereogum talked to drummer Jon Wurster who said two of his favorite new songs are "Everything At Once" and "Digging For Something." He calls the latter a "pop gem." The band played both of these songs in March at SXSW and we posted the videos here.
Don't forget, Superchunk will be playing at the Cat's Cradle on Friday, May 21. Tickets are available via etix and the usual physical locations for $14. They also have a few other dates scheduled through the summer which you can check out below.
