U2 chowed down on local barbecue before leaving Raleigh

U2 may have put on one hell of a show at Carter-Finley, but they're pretty crappy tippers.

One of the band's staff members contacted Debbie Holt of Cooper's BBQ in downtown Raleigh before they landed at RDU late Saturday afternoon, asking if she could cater the band's post-show spread before they left town.

"We close at 6 every day," Holt told the N&O. "But when U2 calls you, you do what you have to do, honey."


The band tipped about $24 on a $277 tab — about 8 percent. Cooper's doesn't take credit cards, so they likely just didn't have enough cash. And Holt isn't mad. After all, she and her daughter got to be on U2's private jet meet The Edge, and how cool is it to say you cooked for U2,

I have to say this makes me wonder...did the band get stuck in the same horrendous traffic as everyone else? And was their limo the one mentioned in this comment that sped up the shoulder?
