Album review: Wild Light - Adult Nights

On their debut album Adult Nights, New Hampshire band Wild Light comes out of the gate swinging. The opening track "California on My Mind" is one of the catchiest tracks on the album but the chorus lyrics declaring "Fuck today, fuck San Francisco, and fuck California" are not exactly safe for terrestrial radio.

The album is full of hooks, great melodies, big guitars and some groovy synth/keyboard lines. The band's makes use of layered vocal harmonies that give the band a classic sound. The song "Surf Generation" in particular sounds inspired by The Beach Boys and even makes use of sleigh bells.

Adult Nights is easily one of the catchiest albums I've heard in a while that is not so overdone that it's annoying. This is an album worth checking out.

Adult Nights was released today via Almost Gold Recordings.

The band actually stopped by NBC 17's studios yesterday and performed a stripped down set. Check out that video below, though to get a good read on the band, you need to hear the album.
