Red Cortez takes Eli Reed's spot as Morrissey's opener

Eli "Paperboy" Reed and the True Loves were scheduled to open for Morrissey on his US tour including the show at DPAC on March 11. In true Morrissey fashion, he's changed his mind after seeing Eli Reed play a show in London. Yeesh. That's pretty harsh Morrissey.

So Moz has now chosen Los Angeles band Red Cortez (formerly known as The Weather Underground) to open the show. Hopefully, he's already seen them so he doesn't change his mind again. They will open the shows from February 28 and to March 17. Check out the band's Daytrotter session here when they were still Weather Underground.

If you still want to see Eli "Paperboy" Reed, he's playing the Cat's Cradle on March 14 at the Woods Charter School Benefit show. Great Big Gone and Lynn Blakely & Ecki Heins will also play the show. Tickets are available for $10 via etix.com.

Red Cortez rocks in Florida. Just saw these guys twice instead of once at the Hard Rock in Orlando due to Moz's illness. These guys are FABULOUS. This was the best concert Ive seen in years. Now, I know what all the West Coast Buzz was about. Everyone on the East Coast check them out at their next gigs. Amazing music. Will stay with you along time. History in the making these guys.
