The National announce tour, coming to Raleigh

The last time we saw The Nationl in the Triangle, they were playing with R.E.M. and Modest Mouse (also playing Raleigh soon) at Walnut Creek Amphitheatre. The band are coming back to Triangle to play a much more low-key venue (obviously), but a bit smaller than one would expect. They will play the Lincoln Theatre on May 28. Tickets for the show will go on sale this Friday, February 13 for $22 via etix.com.

The National are featured on the new double-disc compilation titled Dark Was the Night whic is due out next Tuesday, February 17. The proceeds from the release will benefit the Red Hot Organizatoin who are an international charity that raises awareness of HIV and AIDS. Alongside The National on the compilation is a bevy of indie superstars incuding Arcade Fire, Feist, Beirut, Spoon, Conor Oberst, Bon Iver and Andrew Bird among others.

The National have been writing the follow up to their excellent 2007 album Boxer and hope to start recording in April.
