Hip-hop star Big Boi, who was scheduled to headline the Hopscotch Music Festival City Plaza stage on Friday, September 6, has canceled all of his upcoming tour dates citing a leg injury that took place in June.
The Independent notes that the Hopscotch Festival organizers knew about Big Boi canceling his Hopscotch performance more than a week without notifying the public and continued to sell tickets until at least Friday, July 26, still listing the rapper as the headliner. As of now, tickets for Friday's City Plaza show are still for sale via Etix but Big Boi's name has been removed from the ticket page and replaced with "TBD."
The festival organizers are reportedly looking to replace Big Boi with two acts making that night's show the first four-band Hopscotch bill in City Plaza.
Interestingly enough, Big Boi followed through with his scheduled Forecastle Festival set a few weeks ago performing from a throne while keeping his leg elevated. Check out photos HERE.
The organizers are also looking to book Big Boi to return to Raleigh, possibly at Memorial Auditorium, for a makeup show later in September.
Details about the reconfigured City Plaza lineup, Big Boi's possible makeup show and information about possible ticket refunds for those who want them for the canceled date are expected to be released soon. We'll keep you posted with news as it becomes available.
