It wouldn't be summer in the Triangle without Trekky Records' big annual party, TRKfest. Weather permitting, this year's festival will return to Piedmont Biofuels in Pittsboro on Saturday, July 21 (last year's event was moved to the Haw River Ballroom due to rain).
This year's lineup features a few performances you won't find anywhere else. First is Lost Skulls, a Misfits cover band featuring Ari Picker of Lost in the Trees, Stu McLamb of The Love Language, Nathan Toben of The Toddlers and TJ Maiani of Gross Ghost. They're supposed to be performing in Danzig style, so that will be something to see.
Next, since this is the festival's fifth year, a group that performed at the first festival in 2008 will perform once again. The group is dubbed The Piedmont Family Reunion and features Megafaun and Midtown Dickens joining forces to play songs from each of their respective catalogs as well as covers, traditional songs and who knows what else.
Other bands set to play festival include Des Ark, Hammer No More the Fingers, The Toddlers and some of the usual Trekky folks that turn up regularly. Check out the full lineup below.
As always, there are no advance tickets and the cost of entry is a $10 suggested donation. There will also be tons of other fun events including a sack race, free haircuts, shadow puppets and more. Check out more details HERE.
