Duke Performances has continually presented some of the most exciting performances in the Triangle in recent years and the 2012-13 season, which was just announced, continues that tradition. Here's a roundup of some of the shows that really perked up our ears.First, jazz trio The Bad Plus will return to for a two-night stand at Motorco Music Hall on September 21 and 22.
The Mountain Goats and female acapella quartet Anonymous 4 will perform the Mountain Goats forthcoming album Transcendental Youth at the Reynolds Industries Theater on October 6. Anonymous 4 will also play their own show performing "love fail" by composer David Lang at the First Presbyterian Church of Durham on October 5.
Alternative comedian and musician Reggie Watts, who is a frequent guest on Conan, will perform at the Reynolds Theater on October 26.
Local favorites Lost in the Trees will perform with a chamber orchestra at the Reynolds Theater on December 7.
Zydeco accordion player and singer Stanley Dural, Jr., better known as Buckwheat Zydeco, will perform with fellow zydeco musician C.J. Chenier and The Red Hot Louisiana Band at Page Auditidorium on February 21.
Megafaun will return for another big collaboration with Wilco drummer Glenn Kotche and his band On Fillmore. The pair will perform I L I M A Q by John Luther Adams at the Reynolds Theater on February 22.
And last but not least, Tift Merritt and Simon Dinnerstein will perform together again celebrating the release of their album Night at the First Presbyterian Church of Durham on April 4.

Single show tickets will go on sale on Tuesday, July 17. Pick four tickets (meaning that you buy tickets for four shows in the series) will be available at 11 a.m. today, June 26, HERE or at the box office at the Bryan Center on Duke's campus. Discounted tickets for Duke students will go on sale on August 21.
