Jeff Tweedy slated for 'American Movie' screening in Durham

The Film: Acoustic series at the Carolina Theatre seems to be showing no signs of slowing down when it comes to booking top notch musicians to come to the venue to discuss films that they like and have inspired them. The May installment will include a doozy of a guest.

Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy will come to the Carolina Theatre in Durham on Saturday, May 23, for a screening and discussion of the 1999 documentary film American Movie. Tickets for the event will go on sale at 10 a.m. today, April 15, via the venue box office and Ticketmaster for $15.

Led Zeppelin concert footage to be screened in Cary

For one night only on Monday, March 30, there will be a special screening of Led Zeppelin concert footage compiled from four concerts, a January 1970 show at Royal Albert Hall, a July 1973 at Madison Square Garden, a May 1975 show at Earl's Court and a 1979 concert at the Knebworth festival.

Amongst the theaters across the U.S. taking part in the screening is Cary's Crossroads Stadium 20 theater. The screening will be held at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are on sale HERE for $15.

Two 'The Ballad of Shovels & Rope' screenings scheduled for Raleigh

South Carolina duo Shovels and Rope are the subjects of a new documentary titled The Ballad of Shovels and Rope that documents the making of the album O' Be Joyful and their rise to popularity that followed the release.

Two screenings of the film have been set for Raleigh in the coming months. The first will be at the Colony Theater on Sunday, October 19, at 7 p.m. Tickets are only available at the box office.

The second screening will be at Regal North Hills Stadium 14 on Thursday, November 6, at 7 p.m. Advance tickets will be available soon HERE for $12.

A boatload of great free day parties & other events during Hopscotch

In addition to all the the music that will be filling the night during the Hopscotch Festival on Sept. 9, 10 and 11, there will be a boatload of free day parties on those days hosted by a wide variety of labels, promoters and other folks.

In addition to the day parties, there will also be a pair of pre-shows on Wednesday, Sept. 8, a screening of Animal Collective's film Oddsac, an author and artist discussion series and a few day after events on Sept. 12. Animal Collective's 'Oddsac' screening in Chapel Hill

Animal Collective's experimental film project titled Oddsac has been making it's way across the country after a big premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January. The film will make it's way to the Varsity Theatre on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill on Friday, April 23. There will be two screenings at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Director Danny Perez and members of Animal Collective will be on-hand for the event. Tickets are $15 are available in advance here.

The 53-minute film has been four years in the making and is said to be quite trippy. Actually, that's an understatement from viewing the trailer, which you can experience below.

White Stripes documentary screening in Durham

The official U.S. premiere of The White Stripes new tour documentary titled Under Great White Northern Lights is not until SXSW next month, but the film will be screening early right here in the Triangle. The screening is tomorrow night, Sunday, Feb. 28 at Duke Coffeehouse in Durham. It is free and starts at 7 p.m. One lucky attendee will also win a deluxe edition of the Under Great White Northern Lights, currently selling for $206.99 on Amazon.

The film documents the band's Canadian tour in the summer of 2007. The live album and film will be released on March 16 in a variety of formats including vinyl, CD, DVD and Blu-ray. Check out the trailer below.
