The Huguenots split up, work together on other projects

Just a month after finally releasing their self-titled debut album, the local lads of The Hugenots are calling it a day. It's certainly a bummer for a band who have a great deal of potential and for which there had been already been rumblings about a possible follow-up EP.

The split is not a big surprise though, since the band has never been incredibly active, disappearing for long stretches of time, one of those being after the initial round of shows to support the album release. Members of the band have also been very active in a number of other groups recently.

The Everybodyfields announce break-up, go solo

Sad news today from The Everybodyfields. The Tennessee band's core members Sam Quinn and Jill Andrews are going their separate ways, marking the end of the band's five-plus year career. It's a shame because the band's last album, 2007's Nothing Is Okay, was phenomenal.

Both songwriters are continuing with their own solo projects. Sam Quinn is playing with his new band Sam Quinn and Japan Ten and Jill Andrews will be playing under her own name.

Sam Quinn and Japan Ten will be playing The Pour House on June 19 with The Jackets. Advance tickets for the show are available here for $6. Check out Sam's other upcoming dates below. Jill doesn't have any shows scheduled right now.

Check out our old review of The Everybodyfields show with Chatham County Line at the Cat's Cradle last March here and their show at The Pour House last January here. Nothing Is Okay was also the number 10 album in our readers' poll in 2007.

Needless to say, we'll miss the band but we'll keep you informed on what they're up to in the future.

Phantom Planet to split up after LA show

Phantom Planet have announced via their website that they will break-up after a final show in Los Angeles in December. They are calling it an "indefinite hiatus" which leaves the door open for touring and new music in the future.

Here's the statement from the band.
This could be the most difficult piece of news we have ever had to post.Sadly, Phantom Planet will be playing our last show, December 12, at the Troubadour in Los Angeles, the same venue that we played our very first live all ages gig, back in 1994. We have had an amazing time playing together for 15 years, but we have officially decided to go on hiatus, and will not be playing any more live shows or making any new records, indefinitely. There is so much more to write, but at this time, we just want to say thank you, to everyone, for their support, friendship, inspiration, attendance, and love.

-alex, darren, jeff and sam.
This is sad news but the band went out with a bang. Their album Raise the Dead which was released earlier this year is damn good.

The band included the video below with their announcement.
