Merge to reissue the Mountain Goats' 'All Hail West Texas'
The Mountain Goats' out-of-print 2002 album All Hail West Texas (the last super lo-fi album recorded on a Panasonic boombox that John Darnielle released) will be remastered and reissued with bonus tracks by Merge Records this summer.
It will be out on July 23 and will feature seven additional songs from cassette recordings around the same era. The liner notes will feature an 1,800-word essay written by John Darnielle which talks about the songwriting and recording of the album.
Check out the original, un-remastered version of "Jenny" from All Hail West Texas below.
As we previously mentioned, Darnielle and bassist Peter Hughes will head out on a Mountain Goats duo tour in June, stopping at the Soapbox in Wilmington on June 28. Tickets are available via Etix for $18.
