Merge announces new M. Ward album

Matt Ward (better known as M. Ward) has stayed busy recently. He's toured as the opening act for Norah Jones and produced and performed as half of the duo She & Him. He apparently has not taken much time off in-between projects, because he has a new album due out in February.

The album is titled Hold Time and will be out on February 17, 2009 via Merge Records. The album will be available on CD, LP and as a digital download.

Hold Time will feature some prominent guest contributions from the like of Lucinda Williams, Jason Lytle (of Grandaddy) and Tom Hagerman (of Devotchka). The album will also feature Ward's She & Him counterpart, Zoey Deschanel.

Ward and Deschanel are reportedly working on new tunes for She & Him 'Volume Two.' Ward told Paste that "it's going to be twice as good as Volume One."

A side note about Merge Records: check out David Menconi's fantastic interview with Mac McCaughan about Merge, Portastatic and family life.
