If you have any musical taste whatsoever you'll stay far, far away from the Walnut Creek amphitheatre on August 26. (Mean, who, me?)
Nickelback, Finger Eleven and Puddle of Mudd (the latter two of which I had no idea where still around) will play Walnut Creek. Tickets range from $29-59 and go on sale via Ticketmaster this Friday.
Usually, this would fall into my category of "If you can't say something nice, keep your mouth shut," but the radio announcers have been going nuts over this announcement since the weekend so I guess it's a big deal... Anyone? Bueller?
In all seriousness, could someone please explain the draw to these groups? I'm going out of town for a couple days, so I'll look forward to your thoughtful comments upon my return.

my thoughtful comment relates to this quote:
"If you have any musical taste whatsoever you'll stay far, far away from the Walnut Creek amphitheatre on August 26."
Why are you guys reporting on this concert at all? You are even reporting the ticket prices, date and more...meaning you are publicity for this concert, where as your comment above would seem otherwise. I saw your post on myspace, and always you make folks click on the blog to see what the show is about...this time I was very disappointed to see that it was about some lame band that you guys didn't even care about but took the time to blog about.
The triangle needs more critical thinkers about the music industry and I believe at times you guys are. Sad to see that you actually took time to talk about Nickleback and now I am taking time to talk about your post about Nickleback.
You even linked to Ticketmaster where people can buy tickets for the show....(Mean, WHO ME?)
come on guys, keep it real in the triangle and let's leave the chatter to bands that matter, like interpol two posts down....not even in the same league, but somehow they are on the same blog....hmmmm....
That's an extremely valid point, and I wasn't even going to blog about the show until someone asked me tonight why I hadn't. What I should've done instead was blog about Nickelback about a month ago when their lead singer was quoted saying something along the lines of "It's OK that we write generic music because that's what people want." But there I go, talking about Nickelback again...
Thanks for the comment, it helps to have thoughtful readers to keep me on my toes. (But still, I guarantee that some sheepish, misguided reader out there will click that very Ticketmaster link looking for tickets Friday morning.)
Finger Eleven and Puddle of Mudd would make a pretty decent show - one that I would almost attend, if Nickelback and their fans weren't going to be there!
Nickleback is music that the record companies are trying to spoon feed america based on the popularity of their precesessors, the Foo Fighters. Record companies are not trying to give us the best quality music - they are trying to make money. They know that once something breaks out as popular (see: iPod, beanie babies, numetal among others) they will bleed it until its dry and then throw it away. Nickleback will be an afterthought in 5 years.
anytime V.
