New show announcements: Modest Mouse & Brand New, Ringo Starr, Phil Cook

The spring and summer show announcements just keep coming and there are a few big ones to let you know about, so let's get started.

First up, rockers Brand New and Modest Mouse are teaming up for a co-headlining tour this summer that will bring them to Koka Booth Amphitheater in Cary on Wednesday, July 6. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 29, via the venue box office and Etix for $39.99 to $49.99.

Next up, Ringo Starr will bring His All Star Band back to the Triangle this year, this time to play Koka Booth Amphitheater on Saturday, June 18. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 5, via Etix for $50 to $129.50.

Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band announce 2014 tour

Just two days after performing at the Grammy's with his All Starr Band as well as his old bandmate Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr has announced a North American tour that will bring him back to the Triangle this May.

Ringo and His All Starr Band will return to the Durham Performing Arts Center on Sunday, June 22. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 31, via the venue box office and Ticketmaster for $85 TO $175. This year's band includes Todd Rundgren, Steve Lukather, Richard Page, Gregg Rolie and Gregg Bissonette.

Starr and McCartney both performed at the Grammy tribute to The Beatles, which is scheduled to air on CBS on February 9.

Ringo Starr announces All-Starr Band summer dates

This is probably the biggest get for DPAC since it opened in 2008. They have secured a Beatle. No, it's not Paul, it's Ringo, but that's still really cool. Ringo Starr just released a new solo album on Tuesday, January 12 titled Y Not and his heading out on a summer tour with His All-Starr Band. The Durham Performing Arts Center show is happening on Sunday, July 11. Ticket info is not yet available, but we'll keep you posted. Tickets will go on sale Friday, February 19 at 10 a.m. here. Prices will be $59 to $98.

Ringo's All-Starr band will feature Edgar Winter, Gary Wright, Gregg Bissonette, Richard Page, Rick Derringer and Wally Palmar. Ringo doesn't want your damn fan mail

Been working on the perfect fan letter to send Ringo Starr? Well, you'd better get that shit in the mail ASAP.

After 45 years of receiving fan mail and drafting his thoughtful replies, everyone's favorite drumming Beatle has had damn near enough of it. If your letter's not postmarked by Oct. 20, it's going in the trash.

"It's going to be tossed," he says in a snippy little video on his website. "I'm warning you with peace and love, I have too much to do. So no more fan mail. Thank you, thank you. And no objects to be signed. Nothing. Anyway, peace and love, peace and love."
