New show announcements: Bloc Party & The Vaccines, Walk the Moon & Misterwives, Old 97's & Heartless Bastards

A bunch of new Triangle shows have been announced since our last post, so let's tackle a trio of them today.

First up, British indie rockers Bloc Party just released their first new album in four years, Hymns, and will come to North America this spring. The band will play the Cat's Cradle in Carrboro on Sunday, May 15. The Vaccines will open. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 5, via Ticketfly for $29.50.

Old 97's announces 'Too Far to Care' anniversary tour

Alt-country mainstays the Old 97's are hitting the road again this year and will be celebrating the fifteenth anniversary of their 1997 album Too Far to Care. They will play the album in its entirety at each show and will then play a second set of hits and other tunes.

The band will return to the Cat's Cradle in Carrboro on Saturday, October 27. Salim Nourallah will open and Old 97's frontman Rhett Miller will also play an acoustic solo set to begin the show. Tickets are available now via Etix for $20.

Old 97's announces winter tour, coming to Carrboro with Those Darlins

Texas alt-country mainstays the Old 97's are gearing up for a new tour of the south this winter supporting their latest release, The Grand Theatre, Vol. 2.

The band will play the Cat's Cradle in Carrboro on Friday, January 27. Those Darlins will open. Tickets are on sale now via Etix for $18.

Download the song "Brown Haired Daughter" from The Grand Theatre, Vol. 2 below. Frontman Rhett Miller will also release a live album titled The Interpreter: Live at Largo on November 22. Stream his cover of Wilco's "California Stars" on his website.

Old 97s plan a busy 2011 tour, coming to Carrboro

Rhett Miller and the gang in Old 97s are gearing up for a busy 2011 in support of their latest album The Grand Theatre, Volume One, released in October via New West Records.

The band will be on the road throughout the winter and spring and will be coming back to the Triangle. They'll play the Cat's Cradle in Carrboro on Wednesday, April 13. Tickets will go on sale on Friday, January 21 at 10 a.m. via etix for $18. Teddy Thompson will open the show.

The band are planning to release volume two of The Grand Theatre some time in 2011, but a release date has not been set. Watch a performance of the song "Every Night Is Friday Night (Without You)" from The Grand Theatre, Volume One below.
