WKNC presenting Double Barrel Benefit day party & market

This year's WKNC Double Barrel Benefit concert at The Pour House (which you can read more about HERE) is taking a page from the Hopscotch Music Festival playbook by hosting a day party and market.

There will be music at Tir Na Nog on Saturday, February 4 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. with sets by Patrick Phelan (of Luego), Jeff Crawford, Baobab, Magnolia Collective, Driftwood and Juan Huevos. The show is free and open to all ages.

There will also be a market set up at Tir Na Nog featuring art, clothing, jewelry and music from local charities, businesses and artists. There will also be raffles for WKNC merchandise and concert tickets, including tickets for the Hopscotch Music Festival. The market starts an hour before the music, at noon, and will continue until 5 p.m.

All-star tribute to Big Star in Carrboro to feature members of R.E.M., The dB's & Big Star!!

There is going to be an amazing all-star tribute to Big Star at the Cat's Cradle in December with a line-up to knock your socks off. The two-night show, dubbed Stroke It, Noel, will feature a fully orchestrated performance of Big Star's album Third/Sister Lovers.

Chris Stamey is organizing the event and will be in the band, which will also feature none other than Big Star drummer Jody Stephens, R.E.M. bassist Mike Mills, Jeff Crawford (of a boatload of bands), Mitch Easter and The Tomahawks' Charles Cleaver as well as members of Lost in the Trees, Birds and Arrows and the North Carolina Symphony. There will also be guest vocalists including members of The Love Language, Megafaun and The Old Ceremony.

Drug Horse Cartel holiday show features big line-up

And the holiday shows keep adding up. Well, this makes the second we've mentioned. This one features a collective going by the moniker The Drug Horse Cartel. The show in Chapel Hill at Local 506 on Friday, December 11 will feature a massive line-up featuring: The Sundowners, The Love Language, Max Indian, Ryan Gustafson, Mount Moriah, The Light Pines, Jeff Crawford, Josh Moore The Tomahawks and Twelve Thousand Armies. Jeff Crawford is actually in most of the bands, so you'll be seeing a lot of him. Tickets for the show will be just $8, but are not currently available on etix.com.
