Full Frame hosting free Big Star documentary screening, Fellow Travelers

To close the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival in Durham this weekend, the Carolina Theatre will be hosting a free screening of the film Big Star: Nothing Can Hurt Me as well as a live performance by Chris Stamey and his band The Fellow Travelers.

The performance by The Fellow Travelers will kick things off at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, at the Carolina Theatre with the film screening scheduled to start at 8 p.m.

The film tells the story of the famed Memphis band who didn't achieve much commercial success but developed a big following years later and would influence much alternative rock and indie rock. Check out the trailer below.

Stephin Merritt doc gets time slot at Full Frame

Here's an update on the showing of the documentary Strange Powers: Stephin Merritt and the Magnetic Fields. The film will be screened on Saturday, April 10 at 10:20 p.m. at Fletcher Hall at the Carolina Theatre in Durham. Advance tickets for films will be available starting on April 1. They will be $15 in advance. Box office tickets will be made available on April 8 for $10.

Stephin Merritt documentary screening in Durham

Have you ever wanted to know more about the seemingly grumpy, but phenomenal songwriter Stephin Merritt? Now you'll have your chance. It has just been announced that the new documentary about Merritt titled Strange Powers: Stephin Merritt and the Magnetic Fields will be screened during the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival in Durham, which will take place on April 8-11.

The specific date and time of the screening as well as ticket info is not available yet, but you can buy a pass to the entire festival here. We'll keep you posted on the Strange Powers details.

Arcade Fire documentary to premiere at Full Frame

Arcade Fire's documentary Miroir Noir which was released as a digital download in December and is now preparing for a physical release. The standard and deluxe DVD versions will be released on Tuesday, April 7.

Attendees of the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival in Durham will have a chance to see the film on the big screen Saturday night. The film will play at the Carolina Theatre at 10:45 pm on Saturday, April 4. Ticket information can be found here. The festival kicked off today and will run through Sunday.
