New show announcements: Widespread Panic & Jason Isbell, Weezer & Panic! at the Disco, Heart, Joan Jett & Cheap Trick

A bunch of big shows were announced at the end of last week, including the first notable big shed shows of 2016, each of which features multiple performers teaming up for really big shows.

First up, jam band Widespread Panic and acclaimed singer-songwriter Jason Isbell will take a big venue leap when they come to the Triangle this spring to play Walnut Creek Amphitheatre in Raleigh on Saturday, April 30. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 20, via Live Nation for $45 to $55.

Next up Weezer and Panic! at the Disco, both with new albums out this year, will play Walnut Creek Amphitheatre on Tuesday, June 21. Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness will open. Tickets will go on sale at noon on Friday, January 22 via Live Nation for $25 to $75. Various pre-sales will begin as early as 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 19.

Dixie Chicks announce 2016 North American tour

Ten years after releasing their last album Taking the Long Way, which earned them an album of the year win at the Grammys, country superstars the Dixie Chicks will hit the road on their first big North American tour since winning that award.

The group will play Walnut Creek Amphitheatre in Raleigh on Friday, August 12. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 20, via Live Nation for $42 to $136. Various pre-sales will begin throughout the week, with the tour club sale today, November 17, the Citi pre-sale on November 18, and the Live Nation and Facebook pre-sales on November 19.

Eric Church, Willie Nelson, The Roots, Modest Mouse, Sheryl Crow & more playing new Raleigh festival

The Triangle is getting another big festival to add to the calendar along with the Hopscotch Music Festival, World of Bluegrass festivites, and Moogfest coming next year.

This fall the first American Roots Music & Arts Festival will come to Walnut Creek Amphitheater on October 17 and 18 featuring an eclectic lineup. Country superstar and North Carolina native Eric Church will headline both nights and the rest of the lineup includes Willie Nelson, The Roots, Modest Mouse, Sheryl Crow, Warren Haynes, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Grace Potter, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Chris Stapleton, Railroad Earth, Leftover Salmon and Greensky Bluegrass. More performers will be announced later.

Stone Temple Pilots, Passion Pit, Bleachers & more to play Big Shindig 2015

The Big Shindig is back for a second year after its resurrection by 95X last year, and this year's lineup features a mix of current artists and a few blasts from the past, a few of which are missing their original lead singers.

This year's event at Walnut Creek Amphitheatre in Raleigh on Sunday, September 13, will feature Stone Temples Pilots (minus Scott Weiland, add Chester Bennington of Linkin Park), Passion Pit, Bleachers, Atlas Genius, Live (minus Ed Kowalczyk), Mutemath, Blues Traveler, Iamdynamite, Kopecky and one artist yet to be announced.

Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 26, via Live Nation for $20 to $62. The 95X and Live Nation/mobile app pre-sale has already begun.

Janet Jackson preps first album in seven years, announces 'Unbreakable' tour

Pop star Janet Jackson will return this fall with her first new album since 2008's Discipline. The album doesn't have a title yet, but Jackson has already announced a big fall tour in support of it dubbed the Unbreakable Tour.

Jackson will play Walnut Creek Amphitheatre in Raleigh on Thursday, September 17. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 22, via Live Nation and Ticketmaster for $29 to $115. An album pre-order and Citi cardholder pre-sale have already begun and other pre-sales will start at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 19.

Mumford & Sons announce summer tour

British superstars Mumford & Sons are shaking things up and evolving their sound on their new album Wilder Mind due out on May 4. The band has just announced their first round of North American dates in support of the album and they're coming to the Triangle.

The band will play Walnut Creek Amphitheatre in Raleigh on Thursday, June 11. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 17, via Ticketmaster and Live Nation for $37 to $62.

Van Halen announces big 2015 North American tour

Rockers Valen Halen will head back on the road on a big North American tour this summer, still with wild man David Lee Roth fronting the group, and they'll make their way to the Triangle in September.

The band will play the Walnut Creek Amphitheatre in Raleigh on Wednesday, September 9. Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band will open. Tickets will go on sale on Friday, April 3, via Live Nation and Ticketmaster.

Van Halen will release a new double live album on March 31 titled Tokyo Dome Live in Concert. It was recorded at a Roth-fronted show in Tokyo in 2013.  Check out "Unchained" from the album below.

Phish announces 2015 summer tour, coming to Raleigh

The land's most popular jam band, Phish, is heading out this summer on a big tour, as they do from time to time, and they'll return to their usual Raleigh stop this time around.

The band will play Walnut Creek Amphitheare on Friday, August 14. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, via Ticketmaster/LiveNation for $45 or $65. A limited number of pre-sale tickets will be available via lottery, which can be entered HERE.

Last month Phish just released a live show from Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh from December 16, 1999 which can be purchased and/or streamed via Phish's live recording archive.

Chicago & Earth, Wind & Fire announce 'Heart and Soul' summer 2015 tour

Classic rockers/funkers Chicago and Earth, Wind and Fire are joining forces for the Heart and Soul co-headline tour that will take the pair to big sheds across North American this summer.

The pair will play Walnut Creek Amphitheatre in Raleigh on Friday, September 4. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 13, via Live Nation for $25 to $120.

Kelly Clarkson announces 'Piece By Piece' summer tour

Pop star Kelly Clarkson just released a new album yesterday titled Piece By Piece and she has just announced a massive summer tour in support of it.

The second to last stop on the tour will be at the Walnut Creek Amphitheatre in Raleigh on Saturday, September 19. Pentatonix and Eric Hutchinson will open. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, via Live Nation for $20 to $99.50.

[UPDATE: Raleigh and five other shows on the tour have been canceled due to doctors ordering Clarkson to rest her voice. Refunds will be issued at the point of purchase.]

Steely Dan & Elvis Costello announce summer tour

Steely Dan will be hitting the road on a big summer tour dubbed the Rockabye Gollie Angel Tour and they'll be taking Elvis Costello and the Imposters out as support on for the run.

The tour will come to the Walnut Creek Amphitheater in Raleigh on Thursday, August 6. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, via the Live Nation and Ticketmaster outlets.

Fall Out Boy & Wiz Khalifa announce summer tour

Pop rockers Fall Out Boy, who have a new album out on January 20, titled American Beauty/American Psycho, will team up with rapper Wiz Khalifa this summer on a big co-headline tour dubbed the Boys of Zummer. Hoodie Allen will open the entire tour.

The tour will stop at the Walnut Creek Amphitheatre in Raleigh on Saturday, July 18. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 23, via Live Nation and Ticketmaster for $27 to $69.75.

Dave Matthews Band announces 2015 summer tour

Veteran jam poppers the Dave Matthews Band has just announced a summer tour that will keep the band crisscrossing the country playing amphitheaters from May until September. Each night of the tour the band will be playing two full sets.

They'll return to Walnut Creek Amphitheatre on Friday, May 22. Tickets will on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 13. The band's fan club will have access tickets starting on Thursday, January 15.

Farm Aid is coming to Raleigh in September

After John Mellencamp spilled the beans late last year that he and his Farm Aid cohorts (Willie Nelson, Neil Young and Dave Matthews) were looking at Durham to possibly host the annual benefit concert in 2014, it's been a long wait for confirmation that it was going to happen, but it's finally here.

The massive concert will come to Walnut Creek Amphitheater in Raleigh on Saturday, September 13. In addition to Mellencamp, Nelson, Young and Matthews, who will be joined by Tim Reynolds, other performers will include Jack White, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Jamey Johnson, Delta Rae, Carlene Carter, Pegi Young & The Survivors, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real and Insects vs Robots.

Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 1, via Live Nation for $49 to $175. A pre-sale will begin at noon on Friday, July 25, via Farm Aid but it requires purchasing a $50 "presale pass."

The Big Shindig returns with Weezer, Foster the People, Fitz & the Tantrums, more

After seeming to have gone extinct more than ten years ago, G105's old annual concert at Walnut Creek Amphitheatre, The Big Shindig, has been given new life by the relatively young local radio station 95X.

The show will return to Walnut Creek in Raleigh on Sunday, September 7. The lineup is Weezer, Foster the People, Fitz and the Tantrums, The Pretty Reckless, Bear Hands, Fuel, Foxy Shazam, Iamdynamite, Big Data, Sir Sly and Skratch N' Sniff. Tickets are on sale now via Live Nation for $25 to $75.

Kings of Leon announces 'Mechanical Bull' 2014 tour

Tennessee rockers Kings of Leon are heading out on a big summer/fall tour this year in support of their sixth full-length album Mechanical Bull released last fall.

The band will return to Walnut Creek Amphitheatre in Raleigh on Wednesday, September 17. Young the Giant and Kongos will open. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 25, via Live Nation for $29.50 to $65.50.

Bad Company & Lynyrd Skynyrd annouce summer tour

After joining forces for for a tour last year, British classic rock supergroup Bad Company is once again teaming up with southern rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd for a summer tour that will bring the bands to the Triangle's big shed.

They'll will play the Walnut Creek Amphitheatre in Raleigh on Tuesday, July 15. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, via Live Nation.

Bad Company hasn't released a new studio album since 1996's Stories Told & Untold, but their most recent release is 2011's live album/DVD Live at Wembley. Check out "Feel Like Makin' Love" from the album below.

Kiss & Def Leppard announce summer tour

Soon to be Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Kiss, who are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the release of their self-titled debut album this year, are teaming up with British rockers Def Leppard for a huge North American tour this summer.

The two bands will play Walnut Creek Amphitheatre in Raleigh on Sunday, July 20. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 21, via LiveNation for $29.50 to $149.50.

Kiss won't be performing at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in April due to lineup conflicts since current members Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer are not being inducted. Someone there will certainly be performing some of their songs though.

Goo Goo Dolls & Daughtry announce summer tour

Pop rockers Goo Dolls are teaming up with North Carolina rockers Daughtry for a big summer co-headline tour with Plain White T's joining them as the opening act.

The tour will stop at the big shed, Walnut Creek Amphitheatre, in Raleigh on Tuesday, July 8. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, via LiveNation for $20 to $69.

Hall & Oates to headline Band Together concert this spring

Band Together's concerts in Raleigh raising money for community organizations in the Triangle have become a staple in the area and they've grown bigger and bigger each year. This spring it grows exponentially as the concert moves the area's big shed with a big headliner.

Daryl Hall and John Oates, aka Hall and Oates, will headline the big event at Walnut Creek Amphitheatre in Raleigh on Saturday, May 3. Robert Randolph and the Family Band are also on the bill along with a local opener (who will be announced after Last Band Standing concert at the Lincoln Theatre on March 1). Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, via Live Nation for $51 to $101. The lawn will not be open, only pavilion seats will be sold. Pre-sale tickets are available now via the Hall and Oates mailing list.
