The Tallest Man on Earth announces new album 'Dark Bird Is Home,' full band tour

Swedish singer-songwriter Kristian Matsson, better known as The Tallest Man on Earth, will release a new album on May 12 titled Dark Bird Is Home and he'll hit the road this fall on a tour support of it with a full band.

The tour will come to the Durham Performing Arts Center on Friday, May 29. Tickets will go on sale at noon on Friday, February 27, via the venue box office and Ticketmaster for $28 to $35.

The Tallest Man on Earth announces new album & summer tour

Swedish singer-songrwiter Kristian Matsson, better known as The Tallest Man on Earth, will release his third album, There's No Leaving Now, on June 12 via Dead Oceans Records. He'll spend the summer traveling across the U.S. and Europe and will be stopping in the Triangle.

He'll play the Haw River Ballroom in Saxapahaw on Wednesday, July 25. Tickets will go on sale at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 18, via Ticketfly for $15.

Local trio Megafaun are currently galavanting across Europe, bringing their unique brand of southern folk to the masses. During the Green Man Festival in Wales on Sunday, Aug. 22, the band teamed up with The Tallest Man on Earth for an amazing cover of Gillian Welch's "Everything Is Free" and someone captured it in HD video and uploaded in to YouTube. The musicians all teamed up earlier this year at a secret show in Europe and performed a breathtaking cover of Bon Iver's "Creature Fear." Check out that video below too.

Megafaun are coming home soon to play the Hopscotch Festival in downtown Raleigh on September 9-11 (tickets available here) and then a three-night stand at the Hayti Center in Durham on Sept. 17-19 with Fight the Big Bull, Justin Vernon and Sharon Van Etten (tickets available here).
