The Beach Boys bring sweet harmonies, classic tunes to Raleigh

On Sunday night, all of the living original Beach Boys brought their 50th anniversary tour to the Raleigh Amphitheater, giving fans a 42-song set full of rich harmonies and classic surf sounds.

The band took the stage as the sun slowly sank behind the stage, rocking through a set featuring a lot of their early crowd pleasing hits including "Catch a Wave," "Surfin' Safari" and "Surfer Girl," but some of the highlights of the first set were some of the deeper cuts including the rocker "You're So Good to Me," the country-tinged "Cotton Fields" and the beautiful ballad "Disney Girls."

After closing the first set with "I Get Around," band took a break before returning for a second set kicking off with The Mamas and The Papas classic "California Dreamin'." The second set featured fantastic renditions of some of the band's more experimental sounds including "Sloop John B.," "Wouldn't It Be Nice" and "Heroes and Villains," the latter of which Brian Wilson sounded fantastic on.

The Beach Boys announce 50th anniversary reunion tour, coming to Raleigh

Just days after the band's Grammy performance, the Beach Boys have announced a massive tour that will, for the first time in two decades, include Brian Wilson.

The Beach Boys will play the Raleigh Amphitheatre on Sunday, April 29. Tickets go on sale next Saturday, Feburary 25, at 10 a.m. via the Progress Energy Center box office and Ticketmaster. Ticket prices will start at $29.50. UPDATE: The Progress Energy Center box office will NOT be open Saturday morning. For low-fee tickets, you can use the box office at Walnut Creek.

The Beach Boys announce tour, coming to new Greensboro amphitheater

The Beach Boys will hit the road again this year sporadically playing shows across North America and have just announced a North Carolina date.

The band will play the brand new White Oak Amphitheatre at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex on Sunday, June 5. Tickets for the show will go on sale on Friday, March 25 at 10 a.m. via the coliseum box office and Ticketmaster outlets. Sleeping Booty will open the show.

The new venue will have a capacity of 7,666, with over 2,000 reserved seats and should bring more talent to central North Carolina, but will also provide more competition for the Triangle's two smaller amphitheaters.
