ODESZA, Gary Numan, Reggie Watts, Laurie Anderson to play first Durham Moogfest

After months of anticipation, the initial lineup has been announced for Moogfest, the music festival and conference once located in Asheville but moving to Durham in 2016.

The four-day event will take play May 19-22 and topping the bill are ODESZA, Gary Numan, GZA, Laurie Anderson, Explosions in the Sky, Blood Orange, sunn O))), Oneohtrix Point Never, Suzanne Ciani, Reggie Watts, Sun Ra Arkestra and The Orb. Gary Numan will be featured in a three-night residency and GZA in a two-night residency. Check out a lineup video featuring musician and funny man Reggie Watts below.

Hopscotch 2012 Day 3: Versus, Sunn O)))

New York indie rockers Versus took the stage at the Lincoln Theatre on Saturday night which was dominated by Merge acts (Mac McCaughan and Wye Oak were also on the bill). The band rocked through the first few songs of their set which sounded fantastic.

A little later over at Memorial Auditorium, smoke machines filled the dark venue well before drone metal band Sunn O))) took the stage. Backed by a giant wall of amplifiers, the creepy, robe wearing band shook the venue with crushing sounds.

Sunn O))) to play Hopscotch Festival in September

Just like last year when Swans was announced, Hopscotch Music Festival has made its first announcement for the 2012 festival ahead of the main lineup release which is coming on April 18.

West coast drone metal band Sunn O))) will be playing the festival on Saturday, September 8, in a big new room added for this year's event. They'll play the 2,277 capacity Memorial Auditorium at the Progress Energy Center which will surely have its walls rattled. The band will play as a quartet at the show.
