New Kids on the Block cancel in Raleigh and Charlotte

Well, this settles my internal debate about how badly I really wanted to go see New Kids on the Block.

The Kids have canceled their shows in both Charlotte and Raleigh, scheduled for June 2 and 3. I wouldn't hold my breath for these dates to be rescheduled — this little reunion spree can only last so long...

Due to unforeseen production delays, the summer NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK tour has made necessary changes to the tour dates and venues. The concerts scheduled to take place on June 2nd at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre Charlotte and on June 3rd at Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion in Raleigh have been canceled.

Tickets purchased online or via phones will be refunded automatically starting Tuesday May 12. Tickets purchased at the venue box offices or at BLOCKBUSTER stores can be refunded at point of purchase starting Wednesday May 13.

New Kids on the Block announce 'Full Service' tour, play Raleigh

Here's a new local show that'll make someone here at Triangle Music happy. New Kids on the Block have just been added to the list of performers coming to the Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion (aka Walnut Creek Amphitheatre) this season. The aging boy band will play on June 3 and tickets are set to go on sale on Friday, April 3 at 10 am.

The date is one of a ton of new dates the band have announced for their "Full Service Tour." Check out the dates running from late May to mid-July below.

NKOTB announces fall tour

So I know that we usually don't cover boy bands here at Triangle Music, but my second-grade nostalgia is kicking in on this one.

New Kids on the Block is back! The "kids," who are now pushing 40, are back in the studio working on a new album and preparing for a fall tour.

All five members of the group were on the Today show this morning, and their interview with Natalie Morales was barely audible over all the shrieks of the 20- and 30-somethings in the crowd.

So what would a NKOTB show be like in 2008, TWENTY YEARS (God I feel old) after Hangin' Tough was released?

“Our old songs aren’t necessarily standards — they were pretty sweet — but it’s going to be fun in a live show. People come to hear that music, so we’re going to sing it with basically the same sound. We’re not doing a reggae version of our three biggest hits because when I see that, it pisses me off. Even I’m like `Spare me.’ We have something like ten top ten hits, which is amazing. So if we do those and five new songs, we’ll have a hell of a show. We will give the people what they want to hear." — Donnie Wahlberg

So who else is gonna be excited with me on this one?? Personally, I'm crossing my fingers that this tour hits the RBC center, but I'll shamelessly admit I'm willing to travel for this one.
