Merge releases the Score! Remixes track list

There's been so much going on with Merge this year, we almost forgot about the Merge remix album. We first mentioned it back in January with the other initial news of the anniversary festivities. After all this time though, it's back on our radar because the track list and released date has been announced.

The remixers include Caribou, Xiu Xiu, Junior Boys, +/- and others. The remixees include everything from the bigwigs like Spoon, Arcade Fire to lesser known bands like Guv'ner and Pram. Locals groups The Rosebuds and Polvo even get the remix treatment on the release. Check out the full track list after the break.

XX Merge Night 2 at Cat's Cradle: Guv'ner and Versus

The third band to take the stage (after an extremely long set change) on night two of XX Merge was Guv'ner. I give them tons of credit for getting up there after not playing for a decade, but they win the least prepared band of XX Merge award. The band's set was filled with mistakes and seeming confusion, especially from Pumpkin Wentzel.

The songs that landed were quite fun, quirky little pop songs. "Break a Promise" and "Love the Lamp" were two highlights from the set. The band also played a cover of "Looking For the Magic" by Dwight Tilley.

XX Merge Festival announces first bands, details

The big XX Merge Festival we first mentioned back in January finally has some confirmed bands and details. The 5-day festival will happen from July 22 to July 26. Four nights will be at the Cat's Cradle and one will be at UNC's Memorial Hall.

Here are the confirmed bands so far.

Superchunk
Spoon
Conor Oberst
Spent
M. Ward
The Rosebuds
Destroyer
Guv'ner
Polvo
Pipe
The Broken West

Merge says that more bands "expected and unexpected" are still to be announced as well as other events besides the concerts at night. Check out even more deatils about the show here.

5-day passes will go on sale Wednesday, April 8 at 10 am via catscradle.com and mergerecords.com for $150. They will be non-transferable. There will also be a block of rooms held at the Holiday Inn in Chapel Hill for $85 a night for out-of-towners, but if you're thrifty, you can find a room cheaper than that.

This is a show you won't want to miss. So far the line-up is killer and there's more to come.
