Paul McCartney rocks Greensboro for the first time

Last night Sir Paul McCartney rolled into Greensboro for the first time on his Out There tour and it was the final date on the North American leg of his 2014 tour.

Before the music even started things got off to a bit of a rocky start. Ticket holders were shut out of the venue as the doors were opened later than scheduled and were then crowded on the concourse and not allowed to enter arena itself once they were inside. Eventually we were all let in and the show only started about half and hour so late.

Paul McCartney adds Greensboro date to 'Out There' tour

After having to postpone some shows in the last few months due to some health issues, Sir Paul McCartney is kicking things back into high gear this next month as he picks up his Out There world tour. He just added a new show to his itinerary, his first show ever in Greensboro.

Sir Paul will play the Greensboro Coliseum on Thursday, October 30. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 30, via Ticketmaster for $59.50 to $250.

Paul McCartney brings Up and Coming tour to Charlotte

The legendary Sir Paul McCartney is adding dates to his 2010 Up and Coming tour (up and coming? good one, Sir Paul) and for the first time since 2002, a North Carolina city is on his list.

Sir Paul will visit Charlotte's Time Warner Cable Arena (that's the new Bobcats arena to you and me) on Wednesday, July 28. Tickets will go on sale Saturday, June 12, at 10am here.

We were lucky enough to be just yards from the stage for McCartney's show in Atlanta's Piedmont Park last summer and it was a phenomenal experience. As McCartney keeps threatening that each tour will be his last (and really, hasn't he deserved a restful retirement?), if you're a fan of the Beatles, Wings or any of his incarnations over the decades, you simply won't want to miss this show.

Rain doesn't phase fans at Paul McCartney's Atlanta concert

More than 40,000 people packed into Atlanta's Piedmont Park on Saturday for a concert most of them wouldn't surely forget. Sir Paul McCartney took the stage at about 8:40 pm and launched into The Beatles' tune "Drive My Car."

The show did not let up as he tore through some of his solo and Wings hits including "Jet," "Flaming Pie, "Let Me Roll It" and others. Some of the lesser known tunes really shined in the set though. The Band on the Run tune "Mrs. Vanderbilt" grooved along and got people singing "Ho, hey ho!" and "Sing the Changes" from The Fireman's new album Electric Arguments was incredibly phenomenal and uplifting. Images of Barack Obama formed in swirling lights behind the band throughout the song.

The best 2009 Grammy performances

Here's a round-up of videos from last night's Grammy Awards for those who missed it or just didn't care to sit through the three and a half hour show. These are what I consider the best performances from last night. Radiohead doing "15 Step" with the USC marching band is quite awesome. Some of the videos are not the greatest, but the internet police are trolling YouTube removing some of the better videos. With that said, enjoy.

Paul McCartney to sit down with Stephen Colbert

Stephen Colbert's Comedy Central comedy/chat show has become a popular stop for high profile musical guests. Wilco, R.E.M., Neil Young and others have been guests on the show and now Paul McCartney will join the list. He will appear on the The Colbert Report tomorrow night, Wednesday, January 28 at 11 PM EST. It will be McCartney's only late night talk show appearance to promote The Fireman's new album Electric Arguments.

In other McCartney news, today the Amoeba's Secret EP was released in the US. It features four tracks recorded live at McCartney's Amoeba Records in-store in Los Angeles in June 2007. His performance of "I Saw Her Standing There" from the EP is nomiated for a Grammy for "Best solo rock performance." He'll also perform at the awards show. Fellow Brits Radiohead are also slated to perform. The Grammys will air on CBS on Sunday, February 8 at 8 PM EST.
