The Ting Tings play for excited, sold out Cradle crowd

The Ting Tings rolled into Carrboro Saturday night and played a high energy 50-minute set for a packed house at the Cat's Cradle. The duo played their entire debut album We Started Nothing, stretching out some of the tracks to make the show longer than the album's 38 minute run time.

The band put on really tight, fun show that became a great show due to the energy of the crowd. The people on the floor were bouncing during many of the night's upbeat songs including the hits "Great DJ" and "Shut Up and Let Me Go."

The duo played the set on their own using samples and loops to fill out the sound. The group didn't talk to the crowd much between songs, but they did say they were glad they came to North Carolina. It's worth noting that the group had a show scheduled for Raleigh last year that got canceled.

The band has achieved popularity so quickly that they might need to take some time to write or learn some new songs. Some of the crowd was stunned when the show was over after 50 minutes. It's safe to say they left the crowd wanting more.

Oakland hip-hop/dance trio HOTTUB opened the show and were, well, interesting to say the least. Two of the three members bounced around stage in spandex and at times they seemed more like exotic dancers than musicians. Either way, their 25 minute set was interesting to watch, but I wouldn't recommend relinquishing your hard-earned money buying their EP On Blast!.

We brought you the info about The Ting Tings spring tour last week, but at that time we didn't have ticket info for the Cat's Cradle show. Now we do. Tickets for the March 21 show will go on sale this Friday, January 23 via etix.com for $15.

The Ting Tings announce spring tour, play Carrboro

UK phenoms The Ting Tings were originally scheduled to play the Lincoln Theatre back in October but they canceled the date. Now the band have announced a month long North American tour that includes another Triangle date. The duo will play the Cat's Cradle on March 21.

Ticket and opener info for the Cradle show is not available yet. We'll add the info as it comes in. Let's also hope they don't cancel again.

The band are supporting their debut album We Started Nothing.

The Ting Tings cancel some US dates

It looks like The Ting Tings may have canceled at least two shows on their US tour which kicks off tonight in LA. The show due to take place at Lincoln Theatre on October 26 is definitely canceled according to the venue site as is the show at the House of Blues in New Orleans.

I'll post a list of dates below and cross out the ones that I can confirm are canceled. I'll try to keep the list updated if more shows are canceled.

The Ting Tings line-up short US tour

The new UK phenom The Ting Tings will head out on a short US run next month and surprisingly enough, it includes a stop in Raleigh.

The duo will play at Lincoln Theatre on Sunday, October 26. Tickets are $12.50 and are currently on sale via etix.com.

The band have risen to popularity rather quickly this year since the release of their debut album, We Started Nothing in June. The band were even nominated for a VMA this year, though that doesn't mean much anymore. We won't hold MTV's shittiness against the band though.

iTunes Single of the Week: The Ting Tings, "Great DJ"

This week's free single, "Great DJ," comes from UK duo, The Ting Tings.

The song is a catchy, dance pop number which iTunes seems to be giving away a lot of lately. It has a great beat, a catchy melody and hooky guitars.

This is a good little pop song that'd be fun to drive around to on a summer day (if you can afford the gas). Check it out.
