Tom Petty & The Heatbreakers announce new album 'Hypnotic Eye,' arena tour

Venerable singer-songwriter Tom Petty and his band The Heartbreakers will return this summer with their first new studio album since 2010's Mojo. The band will release Hypnotic Eye on July 29 and will kick off an arena tour a few days later that will run through the fall.

Petty and The Heartbreakers will play the PNC Arena in Raleigh on Thursday, September 18. Steve Winwood will open. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, via the venue box office and Ticketmaster for $32 to $127. Every ticket will include a download of the new album.

The $10 lawn seat sale continues today with a show at each Raleigh amphitheater, and today, they've started repeating. The Sound Tribe Sector 9 show is back on the $10 block along with Carlos Santana with Steve Winwood at Walnut Creek. Check out the details below.

Santana cancels Charlotte show in favor of Raleigh

Guitarist Carlos Santana announced summer dates a while ago which, at the time, included a stop at Charlotte's Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre on Wednesday, July 28. That show was canceled last week, and now Santana is coming to Raleigh instead.

Steve Winwood will open for Santana when he plays the Walnut Creek Amphitheater on July 28. Tickets for the show will go on sale on Friday, June 4 at 10 a.m. here for $34 to $84.50.

It's unclear why the show was moved. It certainly doesn't seem to be a routing issue, unless the drive from Virginia Beach to Charlotte was too much. Tickets sales could have been slow in Charlotte. Whatever the reason for the move, it's certainly a good thing for Triangle fans.

Steve Winwood announces winter dates, headed to Durham

DPAC has become the venue that just keeps booking big names from the past. The newest booking is Steve Winwood, who just announced a short tour in February. The Durham Performing Arts Center show will happen on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 and tickets will go on sale Monday, December 28 at 10 a.m. here for $39.50 to $69.50.

I believe Winwood was last in the Triangle in 2008 when he was opening for Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers. His latest release is a live album with Eric Clapton titled Live From Madison Square Garden.
