Dan Deacon, Danny Brown & more join Future Islands 1,000th show lineup

Future Islands just announced their big 1,000th show in Carrboro a couple of weeks ago and now they have revealed the acts that will fill out the lineup of the all day event. Joining Future Islands will be Dan Deacon, Danny Brown, Ed Schrader's Music Beat, Valient Thorr and Lonnie Walker.

The show will happen at Carrboro Town Commons on Sunday, July 26. Tickets are on sale now via Ticketfly for $20.

Future Islands announce their 1,000th show in Carrboro

Breakout Baltimore band Future Islands, who used to call Greenville home, have just announced their 1,000th show and they have decided to make it a big shindig right here in the Triangle.

The band will play Carrboro Town Commons on Sunday, July 26. Support has not yet been announced, but the show will be all day event starting at 2:30 p.m. so special guests should be plentiful. Tickets will be distributed through a lottery type system. Head HERE to request tickets. The folks lucky enough to get tickets will be selected and their credit cards charged on Monday, June 8.

Sylvan Esso to play a big outdoor show in Carrboro

After exploding in popularity this year after releasing their self-titled debut album which gained heaps of acclaim, Triangle duo Sylvan Esso is ready to come back to the Triangle for a big outdoor show in Carrboro once spring warms things up a bit.

The duo will play Carrboro Town Commons on Friday, April 3. Tickets are on sale now via Ticketfly for $10.

Arcade Fire and Superchunk rally for Obama in Carrboro

Thousands of people gathered this afternoon at Carrboro Town Commons to watch Arcade Fire and Superchunk rock out for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Superchunk started the show with an 11-song set that included "Detroit Has a Skyline." The band played with fervor and intensity of a band who was doing what they love, for a cause they truly believe in. The band had their children watching the show from the side of the stage with headphones to protect their little ears. They came out and jumped up and down on the stage next to bassist Laura Ballance. It was a sight to see.

Arcade Fire took the stage to a roar of fans who had been waiting in the sun for hours to see the band. The band opened with "Keep the Car Running" and rocked through a 9-song set that included a cover of David Bowie's "Heroes." After the song "Haiti," lead singer Win Butler said "George W. Bush policies have been insane to this country (referring to Haiti). I'm so excited about Barack Obama's candidacy. It's about so much more."

After the band left the stage after "Rebellion (Lies)," the crowd didn't budge. The band came back out and started leading a chant of "Yes we can!," one of Barack Obama's slogans. They then launched into "Wake Up" and the crowd sang along with incredible volume.

The band hung out after the show to meet fans, sign autographs, take pictures and encourage everyone to get out and vote. It was definitely the coolest event to take place in the Triangle in a long time.
