Downtown Live schedule taking shape

Well, the Raleigh Downtown Live schedule is coming together and the headliners seem to be falling into a familiar pattern, bands whose hayday has come and gone.

Here's the schedule so far.

May 31 - The Wailers, Jive Mother Mary
June 14 - Cravin' Melon
June 28 - Carbon Leaf
July 12 - ???
July 26 - Old 97s
August 9 - Brian Howe (of Bad Company), Jim Bianco
August 23 - Eve 6

While Eve 6, Cravin' Melon, Carbon Leaf and others may be the usual Downtown Live dreg, they gets props for booking Old 97's.

There are still many acts left to be announced to fill out each show's schedule as well as a missing headliner for July 12.

Thanks to the N&O's music guru, David Menconi for some of this new info including Old 97s.

I say every one of these bands suck - you will get a following for the Wailers but for everyone else you better be drunk before you go downtown. How about doing 4 better shows instead of 6 crappy shows.

Deep South Entertainment rules. No sarcasm there at all.

It's still early! I bet the summer takes great shape. I mean, come on, it's free music and a fun time - I've seen many great bands the past 3 summers!

The guy who says every band sucks? I mean what do you listen to? Stuff that plays the Cave on Tuesday nights? You have Reggae, Classic Rock, Alternative, etc. They do a great job providing a solid variety of music!

Is the last post from Deep South? I listen to bands from all of those genres, but just because I like a genre of music doesn't mean I listen to every band within' that genre. I can't believe you actually asked that question. Ween would've brought in more people than 1/2 of these bands are going to. A great job for people who like to listen to crappy music.
