Duke Performances 2015-16 season announced, Nick Lowe, Patty Griffin, Rosanne Cash & many more

The Duke Performances Music in the Gardens series just kicked off last week and will feature fantastic performances through the end of July, but it's time to start looking forward to their big 2015-16 season which is packed with diverse artists.

The season will kick off on September 10 with Mahmoud Ahmed at Baldwin Auditorium and, over the course of the following seven months, will see the likes of Bettty LaVette, Rhiannon Giddens, The Fairfield Four, Hiss Golden Messenger, The King's Singers, Nick Lowe, Los Straitjackets, Rosanne Cash, Patty Griffin, Sara Watkins, Anaïs Mitchell, Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band, Hurray for the Riff Raff and Edgar Meyer, among many others. Patty Griffin announces new album, 2013 tour

Singer-songwriter Patty Griffin, who is said to have married Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant (coming to the Triangle soon), is gearing up for the release of her new album American Kid, due out on May 7. She'll hit the road for a quick run of late spring dates which will bring her to the Triangle.

Griffin will play the Haw River Ballroom on Saturday, June 1. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 3, via Ticketfly for $35.

Robert Plant & Patty Griffin shop at Schoolkids

Here's something really cool. After their show Wednesday night at Memorial Auditorium in Raleigh, Robert Plant and Patty Griffin had a day off before playing Charleston, SC. Apparently, the decided to hang out in Raleigh on their day off and did a little shopping at Schoolkids.

According to Schoolkids' newsletter, the pair spent about an hour shopping and were "wonderfully nice people." Check out the photo of them at the store there to the right. See everybody, it's cool to buy music, especially at Schoolkids.
