Elle Macho rocks for Lake Fever Sessions

What happens when David Mead, Butterfly Boucher and Lindsay Jamieson join forces? You get Elle Macho, a quirky, rocking band laced with attitude. The band have only played shows in the Nashville area, but they recently recorded a session at Lake Fever Studios. The sessions are aptly titled "Lake Fever Sessions." Watch the band play "Sweet Pancello," "Car Crash" and "Bombs" below. You can also download the tracks via noisetrade.com for free if you email five friends about the music or pay-what-you-want.

Surprise! David Mead is coming!

You wouldn't know it by looking at his website, but David Mead will be playing a seemingly-last minute show at The Pour House this Sunday, Sept. 10. Bill West will open the early show (doors at 6 p.m., show at 7 p.m.). Tickets are $8 in advance or $10 at the door.

We wish we could go, but Tom Petty and the Black Crowes are calling us over at Walnut Creek. Mead's presence has been growing in Raleigh over the past year, as have the crowds at his shows, but if you still need some convincing, head on over to his MySpace page and listen to a few tracks off his most recent album, Tangerine. David Mead @ The Pour House 5/28

David Mead made a stop at The Pour House last night while on tour for his latest album, Tangerine. Once again appearing solo, Mead played a sampling of songs from the new album, including "The Trouble With Henry," "Chatterbox," "Fighting for Your Life" and "Hallelujah, I Was Wrong," on the piano, electric guitar and, yes, ukulele. He notably left the acoustic guitar at home this time, something he's seemingly been phasing out in his live shows.

The crowd has grown considerably over Mead's last three performances in Raleigh, from just a dozen or so a year ago to the crowd of 40+ that showed up last night. Keep an eye out for future performances, he usually pops into town every four months or so.

Though I would still love to see him with a band — you have to go to Nashville, New York and Boston to do that — Mead never fails to put on a great show.
