Matt Costa announces new album & tour, coming to Carrboro

California singer-songwriter Matt Costa is gearing up to the release his third album, the follow-up to his breakthrough album Unfamiliar Faces. The new album, titled Mobile Chateau, will be released on Sept. 21 via Brushfire Records.

Following the release, Costa will launch a big North American tour which will bring him to the Cat's Cradle on Thursday, Nov. 11. Tickets for the show go on sale on Thursday, July 15 via etix for $15.

Pixies announce new dates, coming to Charlotte, Asheville

True indie rock royalty, the Pixies, have stayed fairly active since their reformed in 2004, playing shows each year. The band have added some new U.S. dates to their schedule that will bring them to North Carolina in September. Sadly, they won't be coming to the Triangle, but will be heading to Charlotte and Asheville.

They'll play Ovens Auditorium in Charlotte on Thursday, Sept. 9. Pre-sale tickets are available now via the band's pre-sale for $57, but a general on sale date is not available yet.

Album Review: The Chemical Brothers - Further

For nearly a decade, The Chemical Brothers have been riding the goodwill garnered from their early work. On their latest album, Further, they come close to earning the hype by cutting back on the frills, but ultimately fall short.

The album is full of swells and is very melodic with no breaks between tracks. There is a constant feeling that The Chemical Brothers are building up to something grand. The transitions and set ups are very well done; however, these require a follow through and that's where Further fails.

Raleigh and Charlotte Lilith dates canceled

If you bought tickets to either of Lilith Fair's North Carolina dates, you'll soon be receiving a little boost in your bank account in the form of a refund.

Lilith Fair organizers announced the cancelation of 10 tour dates today due to poor sales, including stops in Raleigh and Charlotte on August 4 and 6.

Refunds will be available at point of sale, and if you're like me and bought your tickets on sale for $10, look on the bright side — at least LiveNation won't be pocketing any service fees from your transaction.
