Vampire Weekend adds spring dates, coming to Raleigh

Indie pop superstars Vampire Weekend will be hitting the road this spring to hit some big festivals throughout the U.S., including the massive Bonnaroo Music Festival in Manchester, TN. Just before heading west to Bonnaroo, the band will return to the Triangle.

Vampire Weekend will once again play the Red Hat Amphitheater (though it wasn't called that during their first show there in 2010) in Raleigh on Thursday, June 12. Cults will open. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 14, via the Duke Energy Center box office and Ticketmaster for $26 to $41.

The band's latest album Modern Vampires of the City made many best of 2013 lists including topping the Rolling Stone list and coming in at number nine on my own. Check out the band performing "Unbelievers" from the album on SNL last year below.

Vampire Weekend & Beach House extend tour, coming to Raleigh

Just when we thought there would be no new announcements for the inaugural season of the Downtown Raleigh Amphitheater, here comes to the coolest show booked at the venue to date.

Indie superstars Vampire Weekend have extended their fall tour with Beach House and will play the venue on Sunday, Oct. 17. Tickets for the show will go on sale here on Friday Aug. 27 for $28.50 or $37.50. Students will be given a $5 discount if they buy tickets at the Progress Energy Center box office and present their student ID (there is a limit of two tickets per ID).

Vampire Weekend's sophomore release Contra was released in January. Check out the video for the excellent song "Giving Up the Gun" from the album below along with the full tour schedule.

Unfortunately, the band's upcoming North American tours do not stop in the Triangle, but for those willing to make the trip west, they will be playing The Orange Peel in Asheville on Tuesday, April 6. Tickets for the show go on sale on Friday, January 8 at noon for $25 here.
