O.A.R. & Phillip Phillips announce summer tour

O.A.R. and Phillip Phillips are teaming up for a big summer tour in support of their new albums, The Rockville LP and Behind the Light, respectively. As you may have guessed the tour will stop in the Triangle.

The pair will play the Red Hat Amphitheater in Raleigh on Sunday, July 13. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, via the Duke Energy Center box office and Ticketmaster.

O.A.R. announces summer tour, coming to Raleigh again

The jammy rock band O.A.R. have visited every sizable amphitheater in the Triangle over the years, and on their summer tour, they're coming back once again.

The band will return to the Raleigh Amphitheater on Thursday, July 14. Tickets will go on sale on Friday, May 20 at 10 a.m. via the usual places for $19.50 or $29.50.

The band pulled 2,863 people to the amphitheater last August, which is about half of it's capacity. The band are planning to release a new album sometime this year, but the details of it are not available yet.

O.A.R. announces summer tour, playing Raleigh

The new Raleigh Boutique Amphitheatre (I still can't get over that name) has just announced it's second concert of it's inaugural season. The venue will be a stop on the jampop band O.A.R.'s summer tour, which will roll into downtown Raleigh on Tuesday, Aug. 10. Citizen Cope will open the show.

Tickets go on sale on Friday, April 16 at 10 a.m. We'll keep you posted on the other details. They'll be $29.50 to $19.50 and will be available here.

In the past, O.A.R. has played at Cary's Booth Amphitheatre, so this could be a sign that the booking battle between the two venues. Hopefully, some more interesting bookings are still to come (no offense O.A.R. fans).

O.A.R. incites a revolution in Cary

Fans of jam rock band O.A.R. were out in full force for the band's concert at Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary last night.

For those of you not in-the-know, O.A.R. stands for "Of a Revolution." The Maryland-based band has been enjoying its fame with the college-aged crowd since its debut album was released nearly a decade ago.

About three or four thousand fans turned out for the show, part of O.A.R.'s
nationwide summer tour.

The band took the stage around 7:30 and opened with "City on Down" off their 2001 album Soul's Aflame. Throughout the 14-song set they played material spanning their decade-long career, from "Heard the World" off last year's release Stories of a Stranger to "About an Hour Ago" off their debut 1997 release The Wanderer.

Fans proudly sang along as they danced to the music, from the front row all the way to the back of the lawn.

Jack's Mannequin, a southern California-based pop rock band, opened the show. Maybe you've heard their recent single, "The Mixed Tape." While most of frontman Andrew McMahon's stage banter is not fit to publish, suffice it to say he was glad to be in Cary, despite the bleeping hot weather.

Jack's Mannequin will return to the area Oct. 2 when they play the N Club in Greensboro.
